Joanne Fagerstrom, PT, CFP
Joanne Fagerstrom has been a licensed, practicing physical therapist since 1978 and a bone health specialist since 2009. She is the owner of Mindful Physical Therapy, LLC, in Pennsylvania.
Joanne places a strong emphasis on wellness and prevention in her teaching, and her additional certification in the Feldenkrais Method (completed in 2005) adds a unique dimension to her practice of physical therapy. Through appropriate evidence-based exercise instruction and body awareness education, she aims to help each person achieve their greatest potential for function, health and wellness.
In 2009, after being diagnosed with osteoporosis, Joanne began the research and development of her comprehensive bone health program. Her weekly Strong Bones exercise classes are attended by students from around the country.
In 2015, Joanne produced her Strong Bones exercise video, followed by a 2nd edition in 2019.
In 2019, Joanne augmented her work by completing a 6-month online certificate program for nutrition through Cornell University.
In 2023, Joanne created a fully-accredited, comprehensive course to empower both physical therapists and patients to manage bone health using effective physical therapy treatments for osteoporosis.
In 2025, Joanne participated in a workshop offered for professionals through the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) called BoneFit™. She was gratified to find that the exercises she has long taught in her Strong Bones classes align closely, if not identically, with those recommended by BoneFit™.
Joanne is frequently asked to share her expertise in publications such as the Chestnut Hill Local, Weaver’s Way Co-op’s The Shuttle, and the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging’s Milestones – and even on ABC Channel 6 WPVI-TV! You can read and/or download PDFs of recent articles here –
